Engine Options & Towing Capacity Comparison

The 2023 Wrangler gives you four powertrain conjugations to choose from while building your dream Jeep, including the standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that pairs with a standard six-speed manual transmission. You can also find a variant of the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque, which pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Regardless, the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine delivers output figures of 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Opting for the available 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine brings 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Maximum output is exclusive to the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine that's only available for the Rubicon 392 trim level, cranking out a healthy output of 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the 2023 Gladiator is only available with two powertrains, a standard gasoline V6 engine like the Wranlger and an optional diesel V6 option. With the standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine, you can equip the standard six-speed manual or the eight-speed automatic transmission. The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine can deliver 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque in all configurations. Upgrading to the optional 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 engine provides 260 horsepower and an incredible 442 lb-ft of torque.

    Off-Road Capability & Features Comparison

The 2023 Wrangler continues to dominate the competition within its segment thanks to its excellent standard off-road offerings that support its capability. However, the Rubicon trims bring ultimate off-road worthiness with their extensive selection of additional options. With the Rubicon trim levels, you will find off-road equipment such as Tru-Lock electronic locking differential, electronic sway bar disconnect, Rock-Trac four-wheel-drive system, Off-Road Plus mode, and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Also, you can opt for the 4-Door Rubicon 392 trim level, which offers FOX shocks, 17-inch bead-lock capable wheels, BSW off-road tires, and Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel-drive system.

Compared to the new Wrangler, the Gladiator also offers a standard four-wheel-drive drivetrain, but it has a few disadvantages since it's a pickup truck model. Aside from the slight differences in approach angles and other aspects, the new Gladiator is also available with a Rubicon trim level that equips it with more off-road-focused equipment. Those additional offerings of the Rubicon trim level are 33-inch all-terrain tires, Rock-Trac heavy-duty four-wheel-drive system, Tru-Lok axles, and performance shock absorbers.
